“True 80’s Christian Metal: Progressive, yet riff-driven songs, frequent and lengthy hammering guitar solos that will melt your face… Judas Priest style vocals, Double bass drum.. It’s all there.”

“Gladius seems to be really pushing the envelope, tossing in all sorts of cool little twists and turns in the music to keep things fresh and interesting.”
- Two Guys Metal Reviews

Just a few short years ago, it appeared that the ultimate dream of pursuing a music career--his true passion--might have been over all too soon for Gladius. A mysterious medical condition manifested its symptoms literally overnight. In June 2005, while studying classical guitar at Georgia State University's School of Music under professor John Sutherland, the aspiring virtuoso suddenly suffered from a rather crippling case of nerve damage, greatly hindering the sensation and dexterity of both hands.

But that wasn't going to stop an ambitious career that had hardly begun. Over the next several years, driven by more relentless discipline and determination than ever before, and owing in part to surgical procedure and extensive (ongoing) physical therapy, the neurological condition improved significantly.

Though still recovering, the composer continues to strive for the unattainable, feeding off the endless inspiration the good Lord provides.

"Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil."
(Ephesians 6:11) Gladius--n. sword

Inspired by the great classical composers, Spanish flamenco legends, and melodic metal masters, Gladius is perpetually pushing the boundaries of his Baroque-Ethnic-Metal fusion. ... more

Track Name: The Great Physician
Overcome with my disease,
Felt like a nightmare but it wasn’t a dream
I had many visions that I could not achieve
My life was over, it seemed
Body and mind not working as trained
Tormented by stiffness, numbness, and pain
Like an enchanter, spells locked inside
Who could not perform, how hard he tried

The Great Physician heals the broken-hearted
The Great Physician binds up their wounds

I was an addict deprived of addiction
Agonized by withdrawal symptoms
The Lord gave and had taken away
I cried out to Him lest I should end up this way

The Great Physician heals the broken-hearted
The Great Physician binds up their wounds
The Great Physician never from me departed
The Great Physician is the reason I can play this tune

“Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.” (Psalm 102:1)
